“Time to build a tree house for Holden and I!” was what Mike said when he found out we are having twin girls. He and Holden are going to have to stick together because there is going to be A LOT of estrogen in our house. After wrapping my head around having twin girls and the possibility of them being identical, I am thrilled. Beau will have a lot of friends to play dolls with.
I have been so excited picking out decor for the twins nursery. I have also been crafting like crazy! Just wait until I blog about Beau’s new room, it looks like Pinterest exploded in there! Here’s a peek at what I have found so far for the twin’s room, as you can see I am being drawn to a sunny room with yellow accents.
I found this whimsical You Are My Sunshine print from HomeSense for $16.99 and these vases and metal artwork from Target, each UNDER $6.00!
I wanted to include this yellow vintage dress from when I was a baby, I am thinking I will find a repurposed picture frame to frame this dress on a wall.
I loved this pillow from HomeSense, nope I didn’t mirror the photo, it says you are sunshine backwards. The new knobs and ready-made valance is from Target. The mirror and bins are also from HomeSense. These super soft bunnies are special in our house so we had to get new ones for the twins, from Indigo Chapters. Please excuse me taking the photo in the mirror, it is hard to manoeuvre to get a good angle these days… as you can see in the next photo I am getting pretty big!
When I picture a dream room for my kids I often envision stylish and imaginative built-in bunk beds. A lot of wonderful memories from my childhood are filled with vacations alongside my two older brothers and my younger sister. When on these vacations, whether it was Christmas in Florida or ski trips in a lodge, my sister and I would love sharing a room. Our time would be filled with giggles and make believe. So when I stumble across a fantastic design like this I can just imagine the fun the children inhabiting this room must have!
This colourful beach house kid’s bedroom by Andra Birkerts Interior Design is a perfect mix of nautical, modern and elegance.
When checking in to see what was new at Babies R Us I was very excited to come across a modern craftsman style dresser in a warm walnut finish. This Park West Dresser features pull out drawers on the bottom and swing open drawers on the top so you can stay close to baby while changing. I would love to see this piece paired with some rustic industrial lighting and a faux sheepskin rug.
I am absolutely in love with this baby girl’s nursery found on Project Nursery. It has a wonderful eclectic mix of post modern pieces mixed with vintage finds. The grey backdrop creates a clean slate behind the pops of yellow and inventive gallery walls. I will definitely be drawing inspiration from these unique wall collages and displays in the future!

One of my favorite ways to add print, colour and sometimes even texture to a room is with a fantastic wallpaper. When designing a room for a teen, use the unique opportunity to go a little wild with a vibrant printed wallpaper. You don’t have to do the entire room, just one wall to give an unexpected punch.
Romo’s new Black Edition is creating a lot of buzz in the design world. The Jackson Flock wallcovering from the Black Edition collection is a little wild with a vintage edge, perfect for the rock star in your family.
Clarke and Clarke Floribunda Collection in Aqua, w0043 02 would be a great accent for a room with a bit of a punk look to it. The aqua colour in the leopard print is a wonderful unexpected twist. Pair this with some light linen drapes and a mix of patterned cushions on the bed to give a fun and cohesive look.
I am absolutely in love with this graphic floral print also from Romo Black Edition. There is a playful mixture of soft flowers and edgy graphics that would create a true “wow” factor in a feminine room. The print shown is Eden Wallcovering Verbena, Xanthina Wallcoverings W362 03.
Cole and Son’s Geometric Circus print offers a modern graphic print that would please any techie. This sophisticated and vibrant wallpaper would transition well from a teen to young adult’s room.
Last but not least, the Contemporary II, Woods series also from Cole and Son is one of my favorite wallpapers. Cole and Son offer a variety of bright colours in this classic print that gives it a fresh youthful pop.
